The project
The Cramaro and CML Industries collaboration breaks new ground in areas from trucking, our core business, to rail transport. Over-Quick, originally created for installation on walking-floor trailers, has now found a new application on a 16 meter railway hopper car.
The challenge
- Overcoming the construction constraints caused by the container structure:
- double pitch form of the bows;
- length of the container greater than a walking-floor trailer.
- Guarantee the tarpaulin system resistant to external forces, such as moving velocity and weather factors.
The solution
Over-Quick on the railway hopper car. Compared to a traditional solution, the tarpaulin system includes an additional push chamber and a custom front rail to be able to adapt to both the length and width of the container. The tarpaulin is also equipped with a manual system for tensioning the tarpaulin using ratchets made of a special anti-wear material. A safety system prevents the tarpaulin from being activated while the fabric is under tension emits light and acoustic signals during movement operations.
Advantages
- Fully automatic system.
- Safe movement from the ground.
- Tarpaulin tensioning system ensures coverage of the container even during movement on the rail and facilitates rainwater removal.
- Locking system for when the tarpaulin is in tension ensures proper use.
- Light and acoustic safety signal.
Patented technology
Over-Quick is a tarpaulin system patented by Cramaro. The tarpaulin, made of PVC with technical fabric reinforcements, laterally covers the container in less than 30 seconds using a system of air chambers.
