New life for our PVC with the CRAMAROxMALEFATTE project

The result of the collaboration between the Cramaro Group and the Rio Terà dei Pensieri Social Cooperative is a wide range of bags, backpacks and accessories made of recycled Cramaro PVC, that are handcrafted by the inmates of the men’s prison in Venice.

The partnership with the Rio Terà dei Pensieri Social Cooperative, that has been promoting training and professional rehabilitation initiatives in Venice prisons since 1994, underscores the Cramaro Group’s commitment to achieving greater sustainability.

The initiative is part of the process to integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues into the Group’s corporate strategy, launched in 2022 and championed every day, with the aim of reconciling profitability with environmental protection and care for people.

Waste becomes a new shared resource

We want to be a driver for a better world and achieve our goal through more environmentally friendly and socially inclusive actions. This is why, as a Group, we have chosen to donate the PVC from our production offcuts and discarded tarpaulin systems to the recycling workshop run by the Rio Terà dei Pensieri Social Cooperative, which transforms it into bags and accessories: the Malefatte (literally “wrongdoings”).
We actively contribute through this collaboration to reducing waste by transforming it into secondary raw materials for new products in a circular economy whilst also supporting the reintegration into society of people looking for a new start and a second chance.

Cramaro PVC reshaped

From production offcuts and old discarded tarpaulins to bags, backpacks and accessories.
Our PVC is transformed, for example, into colourful key fobs which we have chosen as a corporate gadget for our customers. Small everyday items in which Cramaro PVC is reimagined with a new twist but remains key to the new shape it is given through the work and craftsmanship of the inmates.

“Environmental sustainability, originality and solidarity” - the intrinsic values of Malefatte products

The cooperative’s trademark Malefatte products are made entirely of recycled PVC. Each piece is unique because it is handmade by the inmates of the men’s prison in Venice as part of a training and vocational rehabilitation programme, as a tool for personal redemption, a way to regain self-confidence and an opportunity to start over.
